Royal Enfield Hunter 350 on Rent in Tapovan, Rishikesh

The Hunter is the Royal Enfield we hand to people who have never ridden a Royal Enfield.

It runs the same 349cc J-series engine as the Classic, but in a frame that's 14 kg lighter, a seat that's 15 mm lower, and with 17-inch wheels at both ends instead of the Classic's big 19-inch front. In practice that means it turns faster, holds a line better through the hairpins on the Neelkanth road, and doesn't feel like a piece of furniture when you're threading down the lane to Laxman Jhula at walking pace behind a cow.

You get the thump, the badge and the sound. You just get less bike to wrestle.

Who It's For

Take the Hunter if:

  • This is your first Royal Enfield, or your first big motorcycle
  • You're shorter than about 5'7" and the Classic's 805 mm seat worries you
  • Most of your riding is Rishikesh, Tapovan and day trips on tarmac
  • You want an Enfield that's genuinely enjoyable in traffic
  • You're riding solo and travelling light

Take something else if:

  • You're going to Kedarnath, Chopta or Badrinath — 150 mm of ground clearance is the least of any bike we rent, and the roads past Rudraprayag will find it
  • You want the classic Enfield silhouette for the photographs — that's the Classic 350, honestly
  • You're riding two-up with luggage for multiple days — the Hunter's rear subframe and seat are the shortest in our fleet

For anything past Devprayag on multi-day trips, we'd move you to a Himalayan 411. See the Himalayan 411 →

Riding Notes, Honestly

The Hunter's short suspension travel is its one real weakness here. Rishikesh's roads are fine; the road to Neelkanth is fine. But the moment you hit an unrepaired stretch between Srinagar and Rudraprayag, you'll feel every bit of it. Ride it as a tarmac bike and it's excellent.

The 13-litre tank at ~35 kmpl gives you a real 380–420 km range. In the hills, refuel at every pump past Devprayag anyway — the gaps get long and the pumps close early.

What You Need

Original two-wheeler driving licence and a government photo ID. From abroad: home licence, International Driving Permit obtained before you travelled, passport. ₹3,000 deposit, refunded in full on return. Full documents guide →

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a Hunter 350 in Rishikesh?
₹1,200 a day, dropping to ₹1,100 from three days and ₹1,000 from seven. Fuel is separate and the refundable deposit is ₹3,000.
Is the Hunter 350 good for beginners?
It's the easiest Royal Enfield to start on — lightest, lowest, quickest steering. That said, it's still 181 kg. If you've only ever ridden a scooter, spend your first hour on quiet roads before taking on the ghat to Neelkanth.
Hunter 350 or Classic 350 — which should I rent?
Hunter for handling, traffic and hairpins. Classic for looks, long straight highway comfort and the sound. They cost ₹100 a day apart, so choose on how you'll ride rather than on price. See the Classic 350 →
Can I take the Hunter to Kedarnath?
You can, but we'd rather you took a Himalayan 411. The Hunter has the least ground clearance in our fleet and the last 30 km before Sonprayag are not kind to it.
Is it comfortable two-up?
For a day, yes. For a week with luggage, take a Classic or a Himalayan instead.
What mileage does it give?
33–38 kmpl in the hills depending on how you ride it.
