Who We Are

Hem Tiwari opened Bike Rentals Tapovan in 2018 with a handful of bikes and a shed in Ghugtyani Malli. Seven years on, we run more than thirty-five motorcycles and scooties from the same lane.

Everything in the yard is ours. We're not a booking platform matching you with whoever has a bike free, and we're not an agent taking a commission on someone else's fleet. We buy the vehicles, we register them commercially, we service them, and we ride them ourselves on the same roads we rent them for. When you call the number on this site, you get the shop.

Why Tapovan

Tapovan is a good place to rent a bike from, and not only because we're here.

You're already on the right bank of the Ganga, past the worst of the Rishikesh town traffic. Laxman Jhula is a few minutes away, the road to Neelkanth starts more or less at the end of the lane, and the highway north toward Devprayag and Badrinath doesn't require you to cross the river at all. People staying in Swarg Ashram spend forty minutes getting out of town. From here you're in the hills almost immediately.

It's also where most people actually stay. Tapovan's guesthouses, hostels and yoga schools are the reason this stretch exists, and a good part of our work is simply bringing a scooty to someone's door on the morning their course starts.

How We Work

We own the fleet and we maintain it. Every vehicle gets checked before it goes out — brakes, chain, tyres, lights, every single time, not just when someone complains. Hill riding is hard on brakes in a way flat-country riding isn't, and we treat it that way.

Everything is commercially registered. All 35+ vehicles. It's what Uttarakhand law requires for a rental two-wheeler, it's what makes the insurance valid for a paying rider, and it's what the Char Dham checkposts are looking for. It costs us more. We'd rather that than send someone up to Sonprayag on a bike that gets turned around.

We answer the phone when you're out there. Roadside support across Uttarakhand is part of every rental, not an add-on. Puncture at Byasi, dead battery at Chopta, chain off before Devprayag — call us and we'll talk you through it, send a mechanic, or get a replacement bike to you.

We'll talk you out of the wrong bike. Plenty of people arrive wanting a Royal Enfield for a week of riding between their guesthouse and a café. We'll say so. A ₹500 Activa that suits your trip is better business for us than a ₹1,300 Classic you regret on day two.

What We Ride

We're a Royal Enfield shop by choice — five Enfields and one scooty rather than a yard of whatever was cheap at auction. Carrying one brand means we hold the spares, we know how each model fails, and our mechanic can fix a bike here in Tapovan instead of sending you to a dealership in Dehradun.
