Char Dham Yatra 2027: Dates & Season Guide
The four dhams don't open on a fixed calendar date — they're announced annually, and this page gets updated the moment they are, rather than guessing.
When the Yatra Opens
The four dhams don't open on the same date, and they don't open early. Yamunotri and Gangotri traditionally open first, around Akshaya Tritiya; Kedarnath and Badrinath follow within days to a couple of weeks. Exact 2027 dates will be confirmed by the respective temple committees closer to the season — check back here or ask us when you're within a few months of travel, since we track this every year for our own bookings.
The Riding Season, Roughly
- May–June — the yatra opens, the roads are at their busiest, and the weather is at its most reliable. Book your bike well ahead in this window; it's when our Himalayans go first.
- Mid-June–September — monsoon. Landslide risk on the hill sections increases significantly, particularly Rudraprayag–Kedarnath and the Badrinath highway past Devprayag. Doable, but check conditions with us before you leave. Full detail in our monsoon riding guide →.
- October–November — the best window most experienced riders don't know about. Post-monsoon roads, clear skies, thin crowds, before the dhams close for winter around Diwali.
Riding It From Rishikesh

Every checkpost on the Char Dham route checks for commercial registration. It's not a formality — private-plate rentals get turned back at Sonprayag, no refund, no argument. All 35+ of our bikes are commercially registered for exactly this reason. Ask to see the RC before you leave with any bike from anyone.
